Strophiops transmutata Maynard and Clapp in Maynard, 1921
Synonymy
Strophiops transmutata
Maynard and Clapp in Maynard, 1921a:127, Plate 26, figs. 1, 2 (figures labeled S. transimutata); Harasewych et al., 2007:484, fig. 177.
There are 149 paralectotypes, including MCZ 76297 and MCZ 118183 (1 specimen).
Remarks
The taxon name originally appeared as Strophiops transmutata in the heading of the original description, but as S. itransimutata in the caption to the figures in the plate. The spelling transimutata is an "incorrect original spelling" [Article 32.5.1, ICZN, 1999:39] and thus has no separate availability [Article 32.4, ICZN, 1999:39]. Clench (1957:165) listed this species as transmutata.
Maynard (1921a: 127) reported that most of the specimens collected were dead.
