Geographic Distribution: Berry Islands, Bahama Islands.

Type Locality: East end of Thompson's Key, Berry Islands, Bahamas.

Type Material: Lectotype, MCZ 76367

There are 2,875 paralectotypes, including MCZ 76368, USNM 420010 (50 specimens) and USNM 420092 (400 specimens).

Remarks

The taxon name appeared as S. thayeri in the heading of the original description and S. thayerii in the figure captions, which were published later than the text. This taxon was listed as S. thayerii in the sales catalog (Maynard, undated, 1924?:[3]). Clench (1957:165) listed this taxon as S. thayeri in his catalog.
