Strophiops inquita Maynard and Clapp in Maynard, 1920d:121, Plate 4, figs. 2, 3 (figure caption as S. inquieta).

Original Description: Click to view

Geographic Distribution: Exuma Group of Islands, Bahama Islands.

Type Locality: Fowl Key, [Exuma Group, Bahamas].

Type Material: Lectotype, MCZ 76182

There are an unspecified number of paralectotypes, including MCZ 357005 (14 specimens).

The taxon name originally appeared as Strophiops inquita in the heading of the original description, but as S. inquieta in the caption to the figures in the plate.  The spelling inquieta is an "incorrect original spelling" [Article 32.5.1, ICZN, 1999:39] and thus has no separate availability [Article 32.4, ICZN, 1999:39].  Clench (1957:149) listed this species as inquita.   Maynard (1920d:121) reported that this taxon was nearly exterminated by cultivation when he encountered it in 1915.
