Type Locality: About Banyan tree in Eastern Cemetery west along Shirley St. to St. Paul Quarry, [Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas] Type Material: Lectotype, MCZ 76392 The number of specimens was not specified by Maynard, but paralectotypes include MCZ 356675 (21 specimens). RemarksThe first usage of this taxon was in the form of a citation, as if it where previously published. See remarks under Strophia curtissii nivia. Following Article 32.5.2.4 (ICZN, 1999:40) the hyphen is removed from varia-nivia and the taxon becomes varianivia.
