Geographic Distribution: Bimini Islands, Bahama Islands.

Type Locality: Gun Cay, Bimini Islands, Bahamas. [25° 35' N, 79° 18.2' W]

Type Material: Lectotype, ANSP 72136

ANSP 72136, contains the lectotype, designated by Baker (1963:207) for the figured specimen (Pilsbry & Vanatta, 1897:fig. 5) and labeled as ANSP 72136a. The lectotype retains the catalog number ANSP 72136, while the 3 paralectotypes, one sectioned, have been recatalogued as ANSP 411921.

Remarks

Clench (1942:62) synonymized C. cannonicum Dall, 1905 and C. northropi Dall, 1905 under C. pillsburyi Pilsbry & Vanatta, 1897. He also provided a listing of prior misidentifications of C. pillsburyi as well as additional records from North and South Bimini, Gun Cay, and North and South Cat Cay.
