Remarks

Pilsbry & Vanatta (1896:317) note that axial and parietal folds are present, the latter near the middle of the parietal wall, single and short, not over 1/3 of a whorl long.

They synonymized numerous subgenera, and divided Strophiops into "groups" including the Group of C. pannosum (Longidens, Maynard); the Group of C. maritimum; the Group of C. regina; the group of C. scalarinum (= Umbonis Maynard); the Group of C. glans; the Group of C. agassizii; the Group of C. crassilabre [=C. striatellum]; the Group of C. cyclostomum; the Group of C. martensi and the Group of C. vulneratum.
