Larger, .50 by 1.50; peristome .42, aperture .30; mar­gin not as wide .08 and not greatly widened at either end of frontal bar; costae 25 a little narrower than interspaces. Color dark ashy.

HABITAT. I found this species imbedded in hardening sand and partly fossilized on a gray hill at the ex­treme northern end of Great Guana Key, Map 2. B. [sic, actually Map 2 D]

FORMS. 1, 12; 3.6: 7.1; 8,1: 15.7; 32,31; 76, 2; 79,4; 95,1; 111. 3; 112, 2; 113, 1; 115, 4; 124, 1.

OBSERVATIONS:  Very common, but I collected fifty specimens only. Undoubted ly the ancestor of S. progressa.
